We're here to do two things: honour well proven excellence in hotels and individuals in the industry... and to guide the consumer to the most appropriate hotel by being highly descriptive / targeted in award titles and inspirational in the (out soon) guide BestHotels.scot

Hotels can ask to take part or wait and see if we get in touch with a Nomination / request for a Review visit

Do we need to be Members to take part? No, just be a free Basic Member and agree to have us carry out research - a visit / interview. There are basically 2 options. If you do go for Active Program Membership the advantages are: guaranteed entry, upgraded Awards Night presentation (larger framed certificate, trophy in some categories, further options), use of customised Finalist / Winner logos, a unique page on BestHotels.scot with Review and Blue Hotel Plaque rating, direct booking, PR / social media support - and more. Plus, you support the cause - and it's a good cause!

Are the results genuine and honest? Yes. There is no connection between (for example) booking places at an awards dinner and getting an award, or whether or not you are an Active Program Member. The results are based on our 22 years of industry knowledge, research, judging and review visits, consumer feedback and industry intelligence.

Why no online voting? It's useless. It's easily manipulated and absolutely does not help at all. We assure you of that! We tried it for two years a decade ago and saw the skewed results, despite our best attempts - including an independent adjudicator. We also tried placing feedback cards in all hotels, with a similar outcome. We do, however, welcome and invite guest feedback over the year.

It it expensive to participate? The minimal cost is if you go ahead as a Basic Member and have to cover the cost of a research / judging / review visit. But we have halved the cost of Active Membership compared to what went before - indeed it's down by up to 66% - and tickets at the Awards Night Gala Dinner 2025 are less than they were at an equivalent event in 2019! Plus, you can pay membership fees by instalments. So, we're really trying!
